Erin & Rusty // March 2023

To witness this day was an utter and complete privilege, let alone to capture it. Erin is a beloved friend and an intrinsic part of my story, and to see the happiness of this wedding between them and their families was to behold something incredibly special.

The ceremony and happy hour were held at Goodyear Arts, an artist community space close to Erin’s heart where she has kept a residency and where I first got to know Rusty. We were both there for her (utterly devastating) residency showcase, and choked through Erin’s-poetry-induced tears together (we had also met at Erin’s sister’s wedding, another occasion I got to photograph and sob my way through.) A year and some change later, Erin was calling me asking if I’d be willing to photograph their wedding day after Rusty proposed to her in Asheville, and I cried some more.

To bring it full circle, I got to photograph this wedding with the incredible woman who introduced me to Erin and the photographer who taught me everything I know, Amy Ellis. There was really not a moment of this day I would change a thing about and it occupies a hefty chunk of real estate in my soul.
